Artist: José de Creeft (1884-1982)

Location: Central Park, Manhattan, East Side at 75th Street, north of the Conservancy Water and the Central Park Model Boat Sailing stand

About the artist: José de Creeft was a Spanish-born American sculptor.  Aside from this sculpture, his pieces can also be found in New York’s art museums.

About the sculpture: The bronze sculpture was commission by George Delacorte as tribute to his wife Margarita and as a gift to the children of New York City.
